Wellston  is a 3rd class city with a Mayor-Council form of government. The City Council is a legislative body responsible for the writing ordinances and creating policies, and is comprised of a Mayor and six council members. The Mayor, who is elected at large, chairs the council and is the head of city government. One council members is elected in each of the City’s 6 wards, serving two-year terms. The Mayor is the chief executive for the city, running the day to day operations and administering the policies the council adopts.

Wellston, like communities around the world, is closely monitoring the rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic and adapting our response to the situation as it unfolds. We continue to follow the guidance offered by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), St. Louis County Health Department, and other federal and state authorities.
